My Five Summer shoes staples

Summer is already here and while we might be socially distancing, it doesn’t mean we need to slouch on those runs to the supermarket – here are my five favorite shoes this summer!
Take it easy this summer with these 5 staples summer shoes every woman needs in her closet. Better yet, thrift for them, they are out there waiting for you.
Espadrilles
Espadrilles have been around for a long time as a certified summer staple but only recently graduated to the level of bonafide IT items in fashion. Whether you choose to go with casual flats, platforms or a loafer version, espadrilles are a super comfy option for those looking for both sensible and stylish footwear. I thrifted mine and scored these preloved Coach white leather espadrilles loafers.
Mules
You have seen them everywhere, in all colors, shape and form. Bottega Veneta is the trend leader right now with its braided numbers and every Instagram baddie has a pair. For those looking for a more minimalist look, the simple square toe mule is an option; it is all in the delicate arch of the shoe and the details. Square toe shoes were trendy once upon a time a while ago so it is easier to source them today like these two pairs in tan leather I found for a seamless look.
Pointy Toe Mules
Just a continuation of the mule trend for those like me who don’t necessarily feel strongly about their home pedicure skills on these quarantine days. The summer alternative of the ballerina shoe, the pointy toe mule gives you the ease and breathability we all crave on the hot days. Quick to slip them on for a stylish and dressier finish to your outfit.
Flat sandals
Flat leather sandals are just that basic pair you HAVE to have in your wardrobe – they just never fail! The Hermes “Oran” sandals were all over social media last year and most brand are coming with their own version of the flat leather number this summer from affordable to luxury prices. I would advise to always go for a leather pair because these flats are made for walking and durability should be the first criteria in your selection.
Babouches
We all need that worldly and eclectic touch in our wardrobe and for me babouches are it! Originally shoes from northern Africa, these super comfy pointy leather flats are made of a supple material for a casual look. Mine are yellow and were gifted by a friend as a souvenir from her trip to Morocco and they bring just that touch of color to brighten up my blue jeans outfits. Get the real Moroccan flavor and order yours from the source by buying from artisans making these in Morocco – you can find some selling directly on ebay – go for the sustainable choice whenever you can!
